Handmade Cross and Candle
In the beginning was darkness
our Creator said,
"Let there be Light" and it was so
and the light still dispels
the darkness.
Sin, separation from God, darkness
the Cross brought light
still does, to soul, mind, spirit
a process ongoing
banishing our darkness.
Handmade Cross, love and giving
"work out your salvation"
accept, build, understand, share
"with fear and trembling"
for faith is for living.
The flame of the candle brings light
it breaks the bondage
restores relationships with God
with others
making living a delight.
Christ, candle, hope, love, light
wrapped in personal faith
transforming this human life
making each day
something of worth, bright.

As I lay down to sleep
a late night watch
I have no need to keep
for the light
of Jesus' eternal love
shines so bright
for life's journey is no lark
through deep valleys
He dispels the dark
one day we will meet
face to face
until then I will peacefully sleep.
