It was a fine Indiana day
lodged between
the death of winter
and the birth of spring
that the world
seemed to be in suspension
looking for God to move
in summer rain
and the healing of winter's
loss, winter's pain
and time when reflection
would soon recede
as the demands of life
calls us
to the green fields of tomorrow
a world of laughter
love, prayer, work, and of play
thus it was
on a fine Indiana day.

Don't ask me to remember
the thing
that I will never forget
too much pain
regret
is seared into my brain
flooding it like a heavy rain.
Don't ask me to remember
for I know
that I won't forget
wrongs done to me
insults
hurled at my very soul
if the truth be told.
Don't ask me to remember
the slings and arrows
that have not healed yet
let me share them
hmmmm
a minute more my friend
my mind lost them in time's bend.
