Thirty-eight Years and Onward
Katy, spelled with a capital K
God spells her name
with love
and with her husband's hand
they've have had thirty-eight years
together
in matrimony’s Holy band.
Wedding vows, a ceremonious day
began their journey
to here and on toward fifty
then on to an unknown beyond
building on the vows
holding hands
with pure hearts did respond.
Blessings to you on memory day
may the Father firmly hold
your hands and hearts
flooding your life with light
from the sun
and from His Son
making each day joyfully bright.

"Love"
The waterfall is cascading, not fading
as the droplets
in their turn
fall one by one in a mass
on the rocks below
they crash.
Love, though tall, is a waterfall
emotions tumbling
all at once
but likewise one by one
twisting the heart
bringing sadness and fun.
God said, and it was bred
as part of man
and woman
with a need to fulfill
to be fulfilled
rarely still, love is a living thrill.
Hands to hold; beauty to behold
heart to be joined
man, woman
a God chosen path to walk
two lives shared
solid, firm, yet fragile as chalk.

“Sitting Still on a Log”
Here I am on an old log full of decay
my life, thoughts, actions
failures
real and imagined
anger, frustration, grief
with myself, others
it is a place to sit
to be still, for God is near.
The grass, trees, water, and sky
teaming with life
reminders
of Creation’s beauty
the legacy of our Creator
Himself, who is Love
who wants my own heart
His Holy Spirit alone calms my fear.
So, I quietly sit, and though I talk
I also listen
for Him
His tender inner voice
that calls me from a world of hate
to love Him, and myself
then to love others
as I expand the circle of those I hold dear.
I do not seek the quiet, to be still
silence fills me with fear
of myself
of knowing the Father
being called to do His will
my comfort has been rooted
in decaying things, but now I sit
being still, listening with my heart’s ear.
“BE STILL!” I listen, I give a nod
“and know that I AM GOD!”
