“Mother” the term brings a warm smile

to many a heart

be she still living or passed on

she may have been “mother”

by blood birth

loving adoption

or simply came to be

when in life a mother was needed

her gift does not fit a file

for it touches the heart of those not in denial.

“Mother”, “Mom”  or “Mum” titles change

from family to family

culture to culture

but it is a term often wrapped

within the package of love

“Why did God give us mothers?”

He did for He is wise

and it was the right thing to do

for our growing lives, awkward as a dog’s mange

through mothers, He our lives did arrange.

Bless all mothers dear Lord above

those alive, the memories of those who are not

may each memory be wrapped in Your love.
