     "Big Boots"

Little boy, big boots
a daddy gone
to war
away, away
away, so very far.

Be brave young man
cry as you must
in loss
not understood
grief a little heart can toss.

"Why?" a question
mommy can't
answer
just hold him
and try to be an anchor.

Big boots to fill
a little boy
growing
pray for him
to Himself, Who is knowing.

  "Small Things Count"

It was but a tiny leak
but the ship
did to the bottom sink
small things count
the wee ant
can move a big mountain
he knows not "can't"
small things count
my mother was short, small
but was dynamite
even though I grew tall
small things count
love's seed may me minor
but it can grow
and then there is nothing finer
small things count
so watch
my friend your words
your deeds
and worry not about your size
for small things count
the evidence for this does mount.
