   "Playing with Words"

You Go, You Go, You Go
became We Go
and the fender bender
ended the traffic's flow.

The gift of a single flower
is a rare power
touches the heart
bold love does not cower.

The rain! the rain! the rain
on mountain or plain
brings beauty
avoids arid, desolate pain.

The giving of a simple smile
is strong, not mild
brightens a life
hard to see beyond a mile.

Be kind to a web-footed friend
ducky relations don't bend
yet at the dinner table
we enjoy the fowl's end.

Playing with words, a word
the sound that is heard
is much more fun
than trampling by a cow herd.

  "A Generation Still Going"

We sang, we loved, we laughed
we wrestled
with a world often mad
we blended joy
with things that were sad.

Sixties' kids and growing
where were we going?

With the Man of La Mancha
we sought the stars
pledging to make right
Quixotify the wrong
to bring to the world, Light!

Sixties' kids and growing
where were we going?

Doped up, dropped out, died
was a possible path
to link hands, bring hope
was another road
helping each other to cope.

Sixties' kids and growing
where were we going?

Seeking, following Jesus
lifting your brother
rebelling, bringing change
did we do better?
where are we on history's range?

Sixties' kids, who were knowing
did we improve life's flowing?

Middle aged, ranks thinner
waist lines maybe not
do we help those in need
make a difference
or are consumed with greed?

Sixties' kids still glowing?
where are we now going?

The torch is shared, not passed
old age has not come
are not the stars in our grasp
with God, Himself, each other
join in a heart clasp!

Sixties' kids, the future sowing
we are a generation worth knowing!

         “Prayer Changes Me”

I bowed my head in prayer today
yesterday I lifted my eyes
when younger
I bent my knee and knelt
but no matter the pose
I have found
that prayer changes me.

I prayed for wealth and fortune
when young I sought
to conquer the whole world
I was the center
of my own universe
for I was a child, weak, unsound
but prayer became my key.

Being still, listening, seeking
the things of God
knowing that He is the reason
for each day
becoming content with life
enjoying each moment for I found
that prayer changed me.

     "Bless the Bean People"

For the stillness of the moment
God gave us Juan
who gathers the coffee bean
high up
on mountain side
and I ask Him who is divine
to bless those with hands worn
from bean picking
carrying, cleaning, shipping
grinding, processing
stocking, selling
in my cup putting the bean
be I rich or a poor peon
so I can enjoy God this special moment.

           "Praise Him This Day"

Headache, ice packs, eyes closed
the swirl of day
kept at bay
medications, man-made
medical ability is God given
Praise Him! Praise Him! Praise Him!

The silence of the green trees
tall majestic
the softness of green grass
by man enjoyed
but by our Father created
Praise Him! Praise Him! Praise Him!

Hear the wind, listen to it pass
soft in the ears
swelling in the heart
God's invisible melody
in our visibly centered world
Praise Him! Praise Him! Praise Him!

The sky catches dawn's first light
Wow and Wow!
softness, brightness, color
intermingled, blending
God's breath taker
Praise Him! Praise Him! Praise Him!

Holy Child, Rugged Cross, Empty Tomb
divinely incarnational love
transforming power
God given, by man ignored
holy persistence
Praise Him! Praise Him! Praise Him!

  "Idiot or Not Still Pray"
abcdefGfedcba hijklmGmlkjih

Village Idiot, Oh what a joy
the heck with realities
for all see you
as the fool
God's gift of laughter
to them a gift
but while it is good
to give a lift
with a bit of laughter
it is a tool
given by God 'tis true
but life's realities
are not for us a simple toy.

We come each and every day
with expectations
hopes of great success
grandeur
but find at times
failure, negative challenge
yet these work toward the good
though we may scavenge
as if searching for enzymes
but in difficult times God does assure
that our lives He will bless
even in the cauldrons
therefore, have faith and pray.

       "A Man Walking"

There was a man a walking
down a dusty path
sunshine on his shoulder
a smile on his face
for in the world
he knew his place.

The road became steep
overhanging trees
blocked out
the darkening sky
one wonders
what parts of life passed by.

The wind rose, rain came
he was drenched
lonely, sometimes afraid
often foolhardy, bold
timid too
feeling young, feeling old.

The map, drawn day by day
showed the life lived
the good, the bad
the times of faith, hope
times of love
the knot at the end of the rope.

So walked the pilgrim fellow
tempered, yet also a bit mellow.

       "He Said To Her"

Nestle your head right here
the lad said to the lass
his shoulder offered
could she let the moment pass?

He with loving eyes saw tiredness,
in her being, so weary
beset with worries
her life bleary and teary.

"Rest my love, Rest my dear"
he said with tenderness
"God has brought you here
in my arms rest, let Him bless."

Strong arms wrapped around
his loving heart
comfort and true hope
to her he did impart.

         "Prayer for Sherry"

A prayer for a daughter by her dad
a rough week when
disappointment its ugly head rears
the death
of her best friend
how the heart aches
the fingers
a firm desire to wipe away all tears
so for her I pray
God deals
with flowing tear ducts
frustrations, worries
gives peace to calm our fears
so I say a heartfelt Amen
as I trust you to our Heavenly Dad.

  "See Them In The Sky"

See the planes in the sky
flying proud
flying high
salute them as
the traverse the air
taking Freedom's message
everywhere
fighter, bomber, transport
troops, bullets, bombs
food, medicine, supplies
these are men and women
who to mission
and Country are true
and they wear
the Air Force blue.
