Texas - 175 Years Young
2 March 1836
The stroke of many pens
Independence declared, not won
for powerful is the pen
but freedom's price is in blood
at Washington-on-the-Brazos
the ink was drying
at the Alamo and Goliad
men were dying
it took ink and blood
to make it so
but the Republic of Texas
was born that day
nine years of labor later
she would be a State
but the price of freedom
is still ink and blood
statesman and solider
a people united for good
fighting evil forces
by the grace and power of God
who at Creation
saw that our world was begun
by His spoken word not our pens.

"The Battle of Rio San Gabriel"
January 1847
In the warmth of California winter
there was fought
the Battle of Rio San Gabriel
on one side there was the infernal fight
of Stockton, Fremont, and Kearney
while on the other Flores' Mexican Army
held Los Angeles in his grip
the city that Archibald Gillespie lost
seamen, Marines, and Dragoons
crossed the river, January 8th
and soon set their cannons a blazing
silencing the Mexican's big guns
who won? who lost?
Flores escaped, Los Angeles was regained
Fremont court maritaled
pardoned by Polk
Kearney was reassigned
Stockton left, later became a Senator
who won? who lost?
in the battle that was fought
in the warmth of the California winter.

Illness strikes, the body hurts
rest, water, and prayer
healing prayer
that washes away each care.
Travel, many miles to go
people to see, things to do
places to be
the pretty flower, the tall tree.
God the Creator, Lord of all
healer, travel protector
with Him we start
for hurts to body or heart.
Sean, Linda, God's Children
be healed, have fun as you travel
God bless you
in where you go, in what you do.
