"In Beginning"
In beginning, la beginning
was the Word
Who was, Who is
Who forever will be
God
Creator! Redeemer! Pure Love!
of Himself
there will be no ending!
How bad the moment, the day
yet the Word
is there, alert, ready
to create, recreate, heal
human sod
in-breathed with the Spirit
of Himself
and to Him divine we pray.
To the hurting He is sending
those who heard
with heart's ear, lion's heart
ready to respond, to go
led by God
as the transformed, transforming
through Himself
Who is Love! and Life never ending.

"Valentine's Gift"
A bit O' money hoarded
peanut butter sandwiches
less coffee
an investment worth the making
for Valentine's Day.
When your hard day
is finally over, though rest
is hard to find
may the flowers speak volumes
for Valentine's Day.
Each petal is Creator designed
divinely fashioned of love
of springtime hope
as if each day of life should be
a Valentine's Day.
Flowers will wilt, wither, die
truly, ‘tis the way life is
but in my heart lives the reason
for the flowers
given with gentle butterfly thoughts
on Valentine's Day.

"Be My Valentine"
The day was over, it was fine
but was He lonely?
as he saw the flood of flowers
candies, and cards
expressions of infatuation
many were statements
of love
but who sent one to him
a flower? a card?
a candy?
yet all He had given
to so many
was done from love
did a tear
form from the emotion
the rejection
the ignoring ignorance?
I wonder, I ponder
I repent
Dear God, Father, Creator
lover of my soul
I have no flowers or such
but have only me
to offer You
Please, dear Lord
each day, be my Valentine.

"Simple Prayer, Simple Verse"
Bless me O' Lord, bless me
though I have sinned
Your blessings are Life's key!
Let me find peace in what I have
not driven by what I want
I would be loved by another
first in her life
but You have said No
help me to be satisfied
with love's ebb and its flow.
I would be financially free
yet the vultures of credit soar
high above, circling
not waiting until I am dead
but ready to devour
while I am still much alive
'tis life turned sour.
I would have purpose, meaning
and this I do have
yet the future looks dim
what is Your will?
for though tomorrow be bleak
You bring daily meaning
and can raise joy to its finest peak.
Bless those I love rather than me
if that is the choice
in Jesus Name, I ask this of Thee.

"The Life Lived"
The line drawn upon the wrinkled page
crooked, broken, weak
becomes a masterpiece of art
in the artist's hand.
The ground, void of soil, wasted
by wind, sun, and nature
is a desert full of wonder and life
for it is God's land.
The note, played or maybe sung
flat, off-key, harsh
is an expression of a pilgrim soul
part of God's choir or band.
My best friend, if in a foul state
angry, depressed, tired
is mine to love and to cheer
friendship is not made of shifting sand.
I am God's, He is mine. You are too!
weak, confused, wandering, lost
loved by Him to love Him and each other
we are in God the artist's hand.

"Young Lad"
Young lad, dreams surely grand
of what life will be like
when he becomes
a man
brave, fearless will he be
winning of course
the lovely princess's hand
slaying the dragons
helping the poor
perhaps for humanity's sake
finding a great cure
touching lives
making a difference
beyond the world
of toy soldiers and sailing ships
he proves himself
to be a man
leaving childhood chasms
a man not a tyke
the hero to be, the life well planned.

"The Moment Fleeting"
abcdebfghijklimnoba
Is my love a sleeping
within her bed
the pillows
blessed
by where she lays
her lovely head
is she maybe dreaming
love's own thoughts
might they
perhaps, be of me?
daylight is soon coming
what will it bring?
good or bad
the day we cannot flee
so we wait, we pray
patiently or not
from reality
we might choose to be led
but in the final end
we may sadly find
that we had
been somehow misled
and in hope, only a dreaming.

what will be, well, will be
the moment lasting, yet fleeting.

"Lily Pad"
The lily pad, the green lily pad
the frog dreams big
the kiss of the princess
turns him
into a dashing prince
who slays dragons
to protect his true love
and all evil doers
who would do her harm
fall quickly asunder
his mighty arm
but reality beckons
maybe kicks his green end
his princess is true
sweet, lovely, kind, and fair
but he is just a frog
maybe better than a pig
sitting on his worn out lily pad.
