        "Jester, Fool, Clown"

The jester, the clown, the fool
all in one, one in all
in clown or plain face, all are me
unified, divided, confused
simple yet complex
incidental to life, but also a tool.

as life's path winds about
I stumble, laugh, in frustration shout!
not wishing anyone a frown
a man driven, a jester, fool, a clown.

Leader, teacher, one daily serving
family minded, career directed
internally an imp, leprechaun, elf
seeking to bring a smile
to all who are or are not deserving.

as life's path winds about
I stumble, laugh, in frustration shout!
not wishing anyone a frown
a man driven, a jester, fool, a clown.

Loving, wanting love, accepting, giving
the touch of special love
having, losing, living in the in-between
feeling lost, feeling loved
thoughts: somber, serious, ridiculous, silly
all are part of my daily living.

as life's path winds about
I stumble, laugh, in frustration shout!
not wishing anyone a frown
a man driven, a jester, fool, a clown.

Not hatched, I was born, birthed, I bet
minor successes, major failures
yet plodding onward
a faithful friend, yet not to self
a pessimistic optimist
fated? destined to vanish into a sunset.

as life's path winds about
I stumble, laugh, in frustration shout!
not wishing anyone a frown
a man driven, a jester, fool, a clown.

Come my love, sit by this old man
not in years, but in wear
in fears, tears
let me bring a laugh, a grin
to your heart, your life, your lips
for my dear, for you I will do all I can.

I love God, I love you, its what I'm about
be patient when I laugh, cry, or shout
not wishing you ever to frown
I am yours, a simple jester, fool, a clown.

        "Four Letter Words"

Four letter words, profane or profound
some don't think of meaning
but go only
with how they think they sound.

The profane profess a life crude
lacking articulation
of word, of thought, of intent
those are often people who are rude.

The profound, hit realms quite high
love, care, many more
speaking of life's intangibles
warming the heart, defeating the sigh.

Four letter words, long time around
too often not honored
the profane having the spotlight
a dynamic verb of power or a royal noun.

     "This Thing Called Love"

Love
a feeling in the heart
a state of mind
a word action does define
Love
wanting for another
more than you have for self
truly it is divine
Love
beyond human understanding
within mankind's grasp
it is good, it is fine
Love
which calls for sacrifice
daily it is giving
helping one toe the line
Love
the core of intimacy
relationships
yes, often it is hard to define
this thing called Love.

     "Cowboy Alone"

He wandered into the throng
of people and needs
himself seeking
acceptance and love
he listened, he gave, he cared
with sweat and tears
to make the fragments
a fresh whole.

He loved with all his might
and helped others in their plight.

A complex man, often not fitting in
sometime as simple as sin
love he could give
but accepting became
a different matter
he gave a woman his heart
and she loved him for it
did God bring them together?

More than fulfillment of an appetite
she was his love, his true delight.

The banquet of celebration came
past tribulations ceased
a time for joy and for peace
but the woman he loved
belonged to another
so when the work was done
he traded tux for jeans
the banquet for saddle and horse.

He rode, a cowboy alone, out of sight
swallowed by the dark of night.

   "Coffee Cup Buddies"

We drank coffee together
it could have been
tea or a coke
the embers of relationship
we did stroke
through sharing, caring
listening
the latter the most vital of all
and we prayed
and with heart's ear
listened for God's holy call
as time passed
comfort levels grew
and acceptance
was more than expected
it was something we knew
would happen
no matter what was said
so our tears, fears
joined the tales of victory
and the friendship
was slowly fed
as we drank our coffee together.

          "Dead Flowers"

Dead flowers,dead flowers
faded, dead, gone
wilted
for flowers can not last
and these
their time is now past
so moves the cycles of life
the seasons
so I bring you new flowers
my dearest love
vibrant
live products of the sod
created in love
by our God, Creator above
for my love is enduring
alive, true, and
best expressed in fresh flowers

              "Chapel Sounds"
dedicated to Jim and Bev Kessack

Face painting, telephones, Chapel sounds
God's people
worship, fellowship, comfort
peace, inspiration
Christ's love
as jets fly into the clouds
far from home
on mission
the Air Force doing its duty
those of faith gather
to seek the lost, bring comfort
a cup of water, of coffee
a cookie, a smile
God's people, hearts linked
on mission
making a difference
in our base community
our nation, our world
God's Kingdom
silence, laughter, tears, joy
Chapel pictures, Chapel sounds.

  "A Prayer for Amanda"

Lord of life, Lord of healing
touch the tonsils
of Amanda
destroy the infection
wipe up the pus
heal where it is bleeding.

Heal her body, cradle her heart
make her completely well
head to toe
fight the fight with pain
dear God of love
let the healing this moment start.

Bless her Jesus, her young life
blesses many others
set her step
where You would have her tread
in Jesus Name I pray
the Name that quells illness, strife.
